If you were using AiMesh wireless backhaul nodes, then there could be the possibility that after scheduled reboot, the AiMesh nodes may not rejoin.
As you are hardwired backhaul, then this is less likely.
FWIW: I schedule/plan a reboot once a month just to ensure all connections and throughput are crisp as we have a gaming and partial work from home household.
Pro-Active rather than Re-Active

October 9, 2024 at 3:37 pm #34399Is there a way to schedule a MONTHLY reboot vs the weekly that I see in the GUI?

October 9, 2024 at 4:12 pm #34400On ASUS router including ASUSWRT-merlin, only weekly or daily reboots are able to be scheduled.
I mainly use another brand (Netgear XR500) for gaming and use a script (cronjob) so I suppose a script might work/exist for ASUS routers also ?
I will have a look online (GitHub) and see what if anything is available ?

I have spent the last couple of days trying to encourage ASUS to consider adding to their UI the option for Monthly Scheduling,
alas this I feel was not well received.Does look like for ASUS routers, only way to initiate a monthly controlled scheduled reboot/restart is via a script/cron job.-

October 12, 2024 at 1:51 pm #34440October 14, 2024 at 4:28 am #34531I had an interesting email from ASUS this morning and seems that ASUS are putting in place as requested the option for Scheduled Monthly Reboot.

October 25, 2024 at 9:39 pm #34655So my question of the day… I have been having issues with my Asus XT8 randomly rebooting. Sometimes it goes 3 days between, sometimes only a couple of hours… Nothing showing in the logs that points to what the issue was. Frustrating as can be since no rhyme or reason and I work from home and we stream all TV stuff…
I’ve decided to do a hard reset following the WPS button approach. I left all the defaults but did the following:
1) Set my SSID to my existing one with same password so all my devices would reconnect
2) Set my wifi 2.4 channel to 11, as that is best in my area and also locked it at 20mhz width
3) Set my wifi 5 channel to 48, and kept 20/40/80 channel width
4) Using wireless backhaul on wifi 5-2 with 160 bandwidth and locked to channel 177Assuming things stay smooth and I don’t get reboots (which to me would indicate a hardware issue at this point – purchased in March 2022 v1 units)… Are there any SUGGESTED changes to other settings to improve “anything” or just leave things set as is? I honestly don’t remember what I had tweaked over time and have bounced back and forth between official ASUS firmware and Gnuton ones with dirty upgrades so the WPS reset seemed like a good idea to rule other things out…
Now…. If the hardware is bad – what’s the consensus recommendation on reasonably priced 2 node Mesh these days? Asus XT9, ET9? Or something like the TP-Link Deco EX75 or EX75-Pro?

October 25, 2024 at 9:50 pm #34656If you have not yet performed a hard reset, maybe worth taking a backup of the config, just incase.
When you do perform the reset, keep default settings and see if that stops your XT8 rebooting.
TBH: the XT8 rebooting sometimes can be down to the power adapter failing, this may at least explain why no clues in the logs.
Is your Aimesh 2x XT8s ?
I have read positive reviews regarding TP-Link Deco ex75 pro but functionality is limited.

Can I ask how you’re able to select channel 177? I am using UK firmware and don’t have the UNIII-4 channels. I top out at channel 140.

November 4, 2024 at 4:24 pm #34736Can anyone help me understand what port this is referring to? Not sure if it is an actual issue, but trying to understand what this message means:

November 4, 2024 at 5:42 pm #34737A common issue, or at least used to be, usually relating to either a faulty ethernet cable or the nic on the other end of the network cable that is connected to Ethernet 2 on your router going into standby mode / power save, Xbox power save or similar.
When I get home i’ll try a find the SSH commands to tell you which LAN port is eth2 for your device?
but as a guide:
eth0 is the WAN interface
Edit:
SSH to your ASUS router and run ifconfig -a should be a good starting point.
