@jonothan morris – I have spoken with ASUS and the ASUS ZenWiFi BT8 will be released in the EU/UK this year but timescales are yet to be confirmed.

September 24, 2024 at 7:07 am #34122I have created this post to help forum visitors (not members) whom are asking me via my contact form, when the ASUS ZenWiFi AX XT8 v1 is EoL for UK owners.
For clarity:
I have spoken with ASUS and they (ASUS) say for both the ZenWiFi AX XT8 v1 / v2 EoL is (until 31st December 2026) and they (ASUS) where kind enough to update the following online documentation and are treating v1 and v2 the same from a date and reference perspective.
Great news especially for ZenWiFi AX XT8 v1 owners in the UK

For my use case all recent FW have been rock solid even on 160MHz backhaul without any drops.

September 27, 2024 at 4:17 pm #34192I was pleasantly surprised to see this update, as I was not certain that we would receive another one.
It has been 10 months since I switched my ZenWiFi AX setup to AP mode and put them behind a Mikrotik firewall. Everything has been working well, and at this point, it is hard to imagine replacing them anytime soon.

September 27, 2024 at 5:35 pm #34193September 28, 2024 at 11:00 am #34199. UK Sentinel Said:FYI: ZenWiFi AX XT8 v1 / v2 End-of-Life is (until 31st December 2026) so a few more firmware releases to arrive yet

Great news if both V1 and V2 will receive support for another 2 years. Hopefully by then, the ZenWifi BT10 will be more affordable. I have my eyes on four of those to replace the 4x XT8’s.

September 28, 2024 at 11:47 am #34200October 8, 2024 at 11:23 am #34371To reboot or not to reboot, that is the question (I feel a Shakespeare moment coming on)?
Is it good practice to reboot your router and nodes on a regular basis or only if you start to notice traffic slowing down?
If it is good practice to reboot on a regular basis, then how often and via which method, scheduled or manual?

October 8, 2024 at 12:50 pm #34372Very theatrical of you
, I have my various routers set for a once a month scheduled reboot just to reduce any possible issues with memory etc.In reality, you should never need to reboot if code was good, but in reality ‘for myself’ once a month reboot stops any unplanned slowdowns / wifi dropouts etc.
My older RT-AC86U was prone to the 2.4 GHz wifi dropping (issue with heat pads during manufacture I think) so I set that to a weekly reboot and 2.4 GHz wifi dropouts occurred no more.
It becomes more interesting if you are using multiple AiMesh nodes.

October 8, 2024 at 2:38 pm #34373If you dont see any problems let it run till next update.
Otherwise reboot monthly, weekly or daily whatever is needed in your case. And some will even need a hard reboot, then it is advised to use a mains-timer which disconnects for a minute (at night or in the early morning).

October 8, 2024 at 10:54 pm #34385I suppose it’s a case of “If it works don’t mend it”. When you say “It becomes more interesting if you are using multiple AiMesh nodes”, in what way. I have 3 nodes connected, all of which are hard wired. Is there something else I need to do or look out for?
