October 15, 2025 at 7:36 pm in reply to: WIFI 7 Hi, See Asus have WIFI 7 now on newer model, when do you expect devices will go WIFI 7? i.e laptops or phones/tablets? Next iteration due this year? Kev #39799
Seen some more wifi7 routers now, any further thoughts or still not worth changing yet?

or maybe use XCP-ng? Just found this one from someone’s comment online, not sure about it, seems after install it comes to a grub menu and you have to press enter, is this every time it boots as I was hoping it would boot up automatically like esxi does now and then set certain VMs to auto start.
Thanks

Looking on another forum, not seen any comment on the firmware yet i.e. working, not working, issues, no issues so will give it a while before I update.
Thanks

thanks, yes I agree. However, when I last enquired I was told by the person on chat that “you can switch as many times as you like to another fixed tariff with us” so would seem also the sales/chat people did encourage switching, probably to help the customer save money.
Good to read they are allowing after 50%, I didn’t realise that and don’t recall reading it in the info I got on chat, just that they were stopping it from 1st sept.
In the past I’ve not bothered as it would of meant saving ÂŁ5 over the year so wasn’t worth it, this time I’m not saving a fortune but works out to around ÂŁ30 a year in saving so over the 2 year fixed is ÂŁ60 so felt was worth doing, especially as this will be my last change now, when I change next will depend on the prices.

Hi all,
Just was just checking my recent bill and noticed a cheaper tariff is available.
Current prices
Elec
Unit price: 21.94
Standing charge: 48.64
Gas
Unit price: 5.34
Standing charge: 31.42
Exit fees: ÂŁ100 per fuel
New tariff:-
Elec
Unit price: 21.43
Standing charge: 45.94
Gas
Unit price: 5.17
Standing charge: 29.59
Exit Fees ÂŁ125 per fuel
So went and changed and it seems now that the free to switch fixed tariffs with current supplier for free is no longer from 1st sept, they will charge the fee to switch to a fixed tariff with them or move elsewhere.
Bit of a shame tbh, was nice to be able to switch for to a cheaper tariff with the same provider, i understand paying for switching to a different supplier. This tariff isn’t change isn’t a massive saving but every little helps. This will be my last change until the 2 year is up as unless there is a massive change in the markets, i cannot see me getting my Gas & Elec for ÂŁ250 cheaper elsewhere :)

Interesting, I not long fixed mine so will wait and see what tariffs are like in future. Do you also get upto ÂŁ150 if someone uses your link? Couldn’t find much info on there site regarding referrals.

Visited site this evening and got a brief message about anti crawl protection before then loading the page, it was only a few seconds so I cannot recall all of the message. I presume this is something you have on the site to protect against unwanted spam posts etc?
Thanks

Hi all,
Just to update, parents just renewed with PlusNet as there contract runs out in few weeks. Connection been ok, no issues. However, upon looking at the renew, I was going to go on there live chat and see if could get any discount etc but there is no more live chat with plus net, you basically have to call them. So ended up just renewing via the portal on the same plan they have now. Bit disappointing the live chat has gone as was handy for renewals and also to make any queries. For example, I’m hoping they continue to get the referral discount as I used there’s when I signed up to PlusNet and my contract runs out end of the year so I’m hoping the referral still continues as I’m still with them and potentially I will renew in December. There is a local provider to me that I could switch to that is cheaper but I think they want to fit there own ONT etc which is a bit of a pain so I might just renew with PlusNet. I’m hoping some good BF deals in November that will tempt me to renew as I’ll likely be in my last month so should be able to renew.
What’s a bit odd is BT still have chat on there site so was expecting PlusNet to have as well (as they owned by BT) but appears not.
