Just make sure that in dhcp start pooling address is from (example) 192.168.1.6 so your ip (example) 192.168.1.2 for hg612 is not taken by any other device in your network. Also in wan settings you need to change to get IP automatically, hg612 working different than vigor so therefore setup is slightly different. Then of course one cable to wan in asus and one in to lan, if you setup like that you should have access to telnet and via dsl stats program.

Can you access HG612 UI via ASUS ?
Nope, only direct in HG612’s lan 2. I cannot telnet it via it’s lan 2 only via DSLstats program. Strange ?
At least you can access it with dsl stats program, there is all you need.

I think HG612 don’t work like that, at least not straight away. Give HG612 ip 192.168.1.2 where your asus should be 192.168.1.1, and plug in second cable from HG612 to lan into asus.

To what you changed ip address? And how you connected to asus router?

Try this if you use telnet command.
xdslcmd info –stats
If you use dsl stats program in tab telnet is tab stats, same output (from memory).

It may be solved, may be not it depends how bad it is and if engineer pick this up. Can you unplug your phone for couple of hours and see if amount of errors go down where only modem is connected, if it does that will give you good argument when you report fault.

Yes, as the noise on line will indicate a fault. Did you do test on phone which is connected to extension with modem connected?

I believe you need to do on test socket where everything else is disconnected, if you do on filtered faceplate your other telephone (extension) may cause false results.

Leave him on, it may get a little warm. Check stats from telnet or dsl stats program (gui give wrong info) and see if there is excess amount of errors. If it’s really hot and there will be a lots of errors than it may be no good, but if amount of errors will be low with warm modem it will mean that just working hard 😉

With 40 milions of FEC per day you have really low chances to get any better.

I won’t be suprised if modem with broadcom chipset will be better on his line, hope that these FEC errors don’t turn in to CRC as there will be no FEC on downstream if he manage to jump on fastpath.
