Interesting update. I wonder what i’ll be missing out on by not factory resetting afterwards? defaults on the password and upnp (which i’d enable again anyway?)
Not sure I want to go through and re-do all the settings again. Pretty chunky update though

It’s the only thing I miss having left octopus now. I did see a tweet from them that said it should still work via your octopus app but I’ve not found a way to get any data now that I’ve moved. Keeping hold of mine just in case.

I’ve gone with their sept single rate 13m tariff. They have an ev tariff which is cheaper than octopus iog – I’ll be getting an ev in the near future so will switch to that when necessary.
Seems only potential downside is that they bill in full for your prior months usage rather than having a set direct debit every month. Also, of course the octopus home mini won’t work with fuse but I believe you can still see live data in the octopus app from the device even if no longer with them.

I see the new version of octopus tracker has come out and once again they’ve hiked the profit margins. I’ve kicked off a switch now it’s no longer anywhere near a good value.
If anyone wants a Fuse referral for between ÂŁ25-ÂŁ150 credit let me know

The rates with Fuse do look quite attractive at the moment. If I weren’t about to switch to an EV I would probably switch to that from Tracker, the amount of profit margin Octopus have bloated tracker tariff with now (12-13p/kwh) it’s not often it’ll drop below the fixed rates offered by Fuse

Interesting thanks for this I need to put some effort into this to replace my Nest thermostats as well as protects which are also EOL
Although saying that, I have checked and Google ended the 4 year stetch of zero updates for the gen3 by pushing one out on 14th July so that one’s not completely abandoned. I do feel it’s time to jump the sinking ship however

Also free. I borrowed one a couple years back and found a good few places to fix up

The home mini is a great little device and they’re not charging for it, may well be worth putting yourself on the waitlist for one of it’s of interest, just need to have a plug socket somewhere in a reasonable range to your meter that can also reach your wifi network. I stuck mine on my IOT wifi network just in case. Easy to set up and then I don’t think about it it just enhances and provides more up to date/live usage info within the octopus app. Really this is what the smart meters should be providing and octopus are just briging that gap.
I don’t agree with everything Octopus does but this is one of their genuinely customer friendly helpful initiaves. Alongside when they let people borrow thermal cameras during the winter to track down heat loss in the home for free, that’s worth a go too if you haven’t taken advantage.

It’s a free device they’re handing out that connects to your smart meter and collects live usage data and puts it into the app, so you effectively have the same data in the app as you do the IHD. Since having one the IHD has sat in a drawer

I can’t say I disagree. Social media is weapons grade brain rot, specifically targeted at making the adult brain hooked. This is orders of magnitude more effective on young kids. The damage has been plain to see … i’d welcome such an introduction here.

Interesting. Hopefully this support is extended to the likes of BitWarden soon

Never been in that position myself but seems from what I see online people who have posted have certainly been able to negotiate a lot on it.
As long as it won’t be too impactful I would crack on and be seen as the hero for your neighbours for getting fibre in and take the kudos

I would think predominantly your neighbours would be more aggrieved if it was yourself being the blocker between them and getting fibre however :)
