Can you post picture how is connected your modem and how is connected extension line to master socket? Just wonder if telephone line which going to your living room is connected to filtered socket or unfiltered.

Cat5e cable RJ45 from from face plate to modem RJ11. Phone extension wired on inside of filtered face plate to living room socket, so this is filtered.

When you planing next time to turn off your modem take off face plate and have a look where is connected (when you take off face plate it will disconnect modem), there are two sockets where cables can be inserted, one for three cables an that is on base of master socket this is filtered for telephone extension only ( picture 3 from attached auction ) and there is smaller one for two cables only on the back of the faceplate which is unfiltered for broadband extension (picture 4 from auction) . I only suggest that base on your enormous amount of FEC errors.

April 17, 2020 at 6:44 am #6463I think high is not enough to say… If that won’t get worse, I mean if you don’t loose fastpath I will add at least 1snr to downstream to increase line stability. With this amount of errors you barely have chance to get fastpath on downstream. Have you got filtered face plate mounted? Looking by amount of FEC errors I doubt.
It invites conversation from others ;-)
In reality, the original issue was high CRC’s, that has now been resolved, new concern for myself is FEC’s which maybe down to the value of the hex digits in the original command we used to enable bitswap in both directions (and if that command indeed worked) they way I intended.
Hopefully Fastpath will kick in in both directions which should help with FEC. but only time will tell
@Bully – has Fastpath ever been On in both direction via the Draytek 130 ?
@Mrk26 – congrats your status has now changed to “UKTechHub Addict”

April 17, 2020 at 5:21 pm #6489Originally I had fast path on both directions, I can’t remember when I lost it on downstream.

Good to know about Fastpath, hopefully FastPath will return in the next few days in both directions

April 17, 2020 at 6:06 pm #6493highly unlikely as high FEC will encourage interleaving

April 17, 2020 at 6:06 pm #6494Well we all know every line is different but based on my experience if I had 50k plus FEC errors per day there was no chance for fastpath. If nothing happen within 5-6 days from day when you get fastpath on upstream then I will not expect too much.

April 17, 2020 at 6:56 pm #6500FECS sake what do I do?
Or be patient for a few more days and see if DLM sorts it out for you, at the beginning your FEC where relatively low, so as long as nothing has changed physically, then I am hopeful they will reduce ?
Alas, this is not an easy subject as way to many variables,
BTW and for reference – I have had issues over the last 2 week with my DrayTek 130 overheating, (I believe) and causing reboots due to Modem sitting directly ontop or my Netgear Xr500 and as a result trashing my IP profile
Fritz!box is back in to recovers IP Profile currently, so nothing is guaranteed ;-)
