September 30, 2018 at 3:28 pm in reply to: FRITZ!Box 3490 – Official Thread Looks like Fritz!Box 3490 has a new firmware 7.01 release that support Mesh Improvements Release date: 01.10.2018 Changelog: https://en.avm.de/nc/service/downloads/download/show/YToyOntzOjc6ImRpc3BsYXkiO3M6MTQ6IkZSSVRaIUJveCAzNDkwIjtzOjM6InVybCI7czo3MjoiaHR0cDovL2Rvd25sb2FkLmF2bS5kZS9mcml0emJveC9mcml0emJveC0zNDkwL290aGVyL2ZyaXR6Lm9zL2luZm9fZW4udHh0Ijt9/ The update file “FRITZ.Box_3490.140.xx.xx.image” on http://ftp.avm.de contains the latest FRITZ!OS (Firmware)... #932
How is the new firmware, is it working well?
Yeah it seems to be ok, i have done a factory reset so just reconfiguring it at the moment. I will be moving into a new build property soon which has FTTP, just waiting to see if Plusnet can offer it.
FTTP, posh hey! I thought PlusNet was still Trailing FTTP, so will be interesting if you have access to it via PlusNet?

Yes, I can understand your frustration, just need to clary exactly what you are trying to achieve.
Is the DSL-AC88U going to connect to another router/modem or just modem.
Do you plan to use main router/modem wifi, dhcp etc
FYI – Having two routers creates two networks with two DHCP servers and two NATs, this causes an issue when port forwarding and UPnP need to be employed on devices (eg computers) connected to the 2nd router.
if so, then:
modem/router will be called β primary router
wireless router will be called secondary router

The Broadcom DSL chipset do not usually synch as well (rate) as well as the MediaTeK chipset that is in you DSL-AC52U
But DSL-AC88U should be much more stable, maybe an option to change your SNR values, can you give us a screen copy of your DSL Settings page? so we can see what is happening?
Is Annex M (ADSL2+ M) your normal choice for your ISP in Spain, I also remember reading that in the early days, another user (babis3g) had issues with ADSL and the DSL-AC88U, I will drop him an email and see if he can advise ?

What happens when you Disable G.INP, and put back stability adjustment to Auto?
I am just wondering if you local exchange does not like the fact that your choice of Modem/router because it has a MediaTeK chipset, in UK, when users use a modem/router which has MediaTek chipset, G.INP does not normally work at all, but does like Broadcom/Lantiq DSL Chipsets
Are you located in UK?

September 30, 2018 at 9:47 am in reply to: Asus RT-AC86u Just bought one from Amazon for Β£160.93p #918With RMerlin Firmware, ASUSWRT-Merlin support Full Cone NAT and is ideal at supporting multiple Xbox’s / PS etc in OPEN NAT /Nat Type 1
With ASUS stock Firmware, their NAT is of theΒ Symmetric NAT type, which has its challenges, but from when I used it last, as long as you enable UPnP then this has worked well in the past for multiple Xbox’s (for myself)
Key I think is not to assign devices, there unique IP addresses and let router handle all that via DHCP etc.

September 29, 2018 at 6:41 pm in reply to: Asus RT-AC86u Just bought one from Amazon for Β£160.93p #913Will I be able to access my Draytek Modem via its UI behind this router without the Merlin FW?
Yes, should require no further setting up. (I believe)
Edit: They key is to ensure both Modem and ROUTER are on different IP subnets, I believe the DrayTeK comes figured with the IP addressΒ http://192.168.2.1 and the ASUS DSL-AC86U isΒ http://192.168.50.1 which is all that is needed.

Good news for ASUS ;) if this same memory usage tomorrow, I will let ASUS know on Monday, hopefully this helps them with a good starting point for new firmware’s, if they do not know already regarding beta540

After 14 hours there is only 3MB more than the starting value. The configuration is exactly the same of the test done with the build 546. Probably this is the better starting point for a new firmware without the memory leak.
Good news so far ;)

In the 540, at the start, I have seen more memory allocation, but after 20 seconds (+/-) the memory came back to the βnormalβ initial value. PS: The Firewall is ON, after the Switch OFF and came back, now seems works correctly (Iβm able to navigate also in the Italian forum), except that the ports are closed instead stealth (but I think this is a know problem of this version).
Yes, I also believe the release 540 had FW issues, memory usage so far from you above chart/table has only used 2Mb extra after 9 hours, your 546 chart, showed 20Mb extra used after 9 ish hours ???
Interesting ;)

;-) are you going to flash it with RMerlin firmware, be careful as RMerlin firmware’s does not support AiMesh , only stock ASUSWRT does
