Yes, but no need for me running with full perf. So I cant tell you how much it could help.
Cant post the screenshot here.
Found a picture of these settings here: https://telekomhilft.telekom.de/t5/Telefonie-Internet/VDSL-100-Stoerabstand-Empfangsrichtung-6db-Resyncs-und-Fritzbox/td-p/2958624?attachment-id=37266

You can set for more stability or performance.
But for me Intel DSL-chips in 7590 are much better with best sync ever seen compared to some provider modems at least on my v.plus (supervectoring 35b) line.

NEW 7590 BETA for ALL, avm and amve branding, so it can be used for DE and INTernational versions of 7590!
https://avm.de/fileadmin/user_upload/DE/Labor/Download/fritzbox-7590-labor-74093.zip
Still had no time to test, main functions seems to work finde, mesh, sync are as before.
WPA3 support, SMB2+3 (not tested), better band and mesh node steering and lot more (look at the changelog).
I think there is one for 7490 too, but dont have one to test for INT-version compatibility.
First impressions:
Mesh node and band steering almost perfect now for me!
5GHz devices will now very fast use it and changing faster to mesh-nodes while moving, only legacy clients with no support for it have to rely on 2,4GHz.

Works very well with AVM. You dont need a second 7590, a cheap 7530 would be fine there or a mesh repeater.
No need for my setup with 4x 7590 one in each floor (and neighbour), got them cheap used for 130-140€ each.
While still lot of problems with Asus Aimesh reported and you wont get guest SSID on nodes with them.

Prices are high and you are beta user for the next year for all of them! Some essential features and benefits of WiFi6 will never arrive even with firmware updates on todays routers (yes they are certified, but only for basic functionality and non public Asus internal firmware). You can hope some things will come with future updates but I dont expect them to come, they want to sell new exlusive features in the next years too included only on their newer routers.
RT-AC68U is still a very reliable router if you dont have Gb ISP connection.
BTW: With my 7590 I support our neighbours house 35-40m distance with 2,4GHz-backhaul and second 7590 in Mesh-mode over there, connected with 150-200Mb/s, enough for everyday internet access.
Modem-router combo may safe some power over the years, about 130Wh a year (~25€ a year on your bill)! On the other side you might be more flexible with single components.
If you only need a X-mas present and happy with your 68U now take an RT-AC86U.
They all will give you similar coverage, dont think it will be better, maybe faster nearby in 5GHz band. I am happy that I changed to 7590 as Asus made only troubles here (DSL-AC68U, RT-AC68U and 86U). Have to say that I used them in Aimesh mode, maybe with single router it would have been better.

It’s done without damage AFAIK, so no warrenty problem as you can remove it before return.
There are no broken stickers and quite easy to open.

You could even buy external antennas from frixtender (easy to install, but personally never used them to tell more about): https://frixtender.de/kompatibilitaet-der-fritzbox-7590/
Frixtender offers different antennas for different usage, the longer the more directional (less up and down and more horizontal). S=small, M=medium, L=large, P=panel (focussed to one direction ~45° instead of 360°)
Dont expect too much from external antennas, more eye catcher than worth it.
I had lot of Wifi-troubles with Asus 68U and 86U and now all ok with 7590. Coverage will be about the same as radio power is limited in EU and all units sold in EU (GB isn’t a separated region).

Sorry, cant help with your question about Sky if it could work.
But to be honost I rather dont suppose that it is supported.
There is no bridge mode, but you can leave DSL credentials empty and allow other devices to establish their own connection.
Here somebody did it, you would have to translate: https://www.ip-phone-forum.de/threads/7590-als-reines-modem-nutzen.296201/post-2268486

Search in SNB forum for RT-AC68U stock firmware USB start script, you should find some threads about it how to do. Will be same on DSL tpyes.

It works well with all newer Merlin firmwares, tested it long time a year ago.
They only have broken Lets Encrypt (due to protocol change) which effected DDNS (if you used LE).
But should be solved now, maybe you have to wait till GNUton updated his firmware for it, you could still test without LE.
You can trust both, open source and you can look at their code.

Why dont you use GNUton’s firmware for DSL-AC68U, he supports most Merlin features.
I would try it as first step and without any risc!
